sick...

Well, as you can tell by the fact I haven't blogged in a week we had a busy weekend. My mom and sister came to town to stay because of a shower for one of my cousins. My cousin Megan is having a boy as well in a couple of months, so Eli is going to have many playmates at our family gatherings. We all went to eat at my aunt Cate's house on Friday and enjoyed time with the family. Saturday, after the shower, Brandon's grandparents and aunt from Hot Springs, AR came to visit until Tuesday. We had a great time while they were here. We went to Cow Town and saw the Prairie Rose Wranglers perform old Cowboy tunes and ate the big chuck wagon dinner. It was a fun evening! Sunday, we all went to church and enjoyed Brandon leading worship and ate at Panera and went on a girl's shopping trip. Monday, we went to Botanica (gardens), the Keeper of the Plains exhibit and bridge, and the Veteran's Plaza. Overall, we had a great time and are looking forward to seeing his grandparents again when we go down to Dallas for our nephews 3rd birthday at the end of this month.

Poor Eli came down with his first cold on Monday night. He's never had a stuffy/runny nose before and didn't handle it very well the first night. We were literally up with him every half hour. Yesterday he still had a runny nose and a little cough, but didn't act like it bothered him too much. Last night we propped his bed mattress up a bit and ran a vaporizer and it helped a lot. He had trouble staying asleep for a couple hours and then it was a normal night and we all got a lot of sleep. I feel bad for the poor little guy. He's happy as can be, but it still bothers me. He's doing very well with his food. He eats 1 tablespoon Oatmeal cereal and one table spoon of Rice cereal and Barley cereal for breakfast each morning. For lunch he has whatever new vegetable he's on. Right now he's on Acorn Squash for lunch and then the old Butternut Squash for supper. Tomorrow he gets to start Sweet Potatoes. He's doing really well drinking out of a cup. With each food I give him a little breast milk in a cup with handles but no lid. He holds it and we help him tip it. So cute!
