My baby's kicking for Obama!

Yesterday morning I was so upset because it appeared the weather was going to keep me from driving to the Barack Obama rally in El Dorado. It is the first time a candidate has campaigned here since 1960! Kansas usually doesn't matter in the primaries, but this year we're in luck! I knew this was a chance of a lifetime, and considering my love for politics I was devastated to not be able to go. After leaving me crying at the house to go to work, Brandon surprised me and took off work to take me in the blowing snow! We froze in line in blizzard conditions with about 3,000 other people. There were so many people we got put in an overflow room, and I was so bummed that I wasn't going to see Obama in person....until....he came in before he gave his speech to thank us for coming and shake hands! We actually got closer and better pictures than we would have if we'd made it into the gym! It was totally worth it! His speech was inspirational (like they always are) and I was on cloud nine!

February 26, 2008 is the day!

On Monday I had an appointment, and Eli is still in a partially breech/transverse position so my doctor went ahead and scheduled a C-section for 9:30 a.m. (have to be there at 6:30 a.m.) on Tuesday, February 26, 2008! I had the group b strep test and I'm not dialated at all. His heartrate was higher than usual at 164! I was glad to find out that our doctor will not try to move him into a head down position because there are risks to the baby, it's painful to the mother, and not very successful.

We have less than a month now! It made everything feel extremely real when I got the call saying they'd scheduled it. I called or e-mailed a million people telling them the news. It is so strange to know the day our baby will come into the world (unless I actually go into labor). I feel somewhat relieved so finally know a date and time...since I'm such a control freak.

At our childbirth class, we talked about c-sections and went over and toured the hospital rooms. Our teacher showed me where I need to check in, where I'll be for the surgery, and answered a lot of questions for me about the practices at Wesley. The more I know the less anxious I feel!

Breech!

We had a sonogram this morning! It was great to see Eli again. He's in a breech position (which he's been in for weeks). I don't blame him...who wants to be upside down? We got to see his cute face and feet. It's good to know that that nice lump coming out of my upper stomach/side that we're always rubbing is his little head :-) He was measuring around 5 lbs 10 oz, which would put me about 1 week and 5 days farther ahead, but since the late sonograms measure 1/2 lb on the big side usually they are keeping my due date the same but starting my weekly appointments Monday! If he doesn't move in the next 2 weeks, we'll probably schedule a C-section for the end of February. I'm just trying to have faith and try and let go of my control freak attitude. I just hate the waiting and unknown! Once they schedule a c-section or decide the other way I'll feel much better!

I was proud of myself for having everything ready, so I didn't have a panic attack when they said he was measuring farther along! Praise God! Eli's heart rate was 142 at the sonogram and 138 at the doctor's office. I've gained 29 lbs so far, which is okay.

I'm ready to hold this little man!

Selfish

For 2 1/2 years Brandon and I have been able to be selfish! We've traveled to a lot of fun places, gone on dates constantly, spent a lot of time together, etc. I am so glad we've had this time to build the foundation of our marriage and grow together. Now, we are trying to take advantage of our last few weeks of selfishness! Things are about to change!

Friends Shower!

Courtney Long and Tanya Horst threw me a friends baby shower! It was a lot of fun, and it was great to see people I haven't seen in a while! They had cake, adorable baby cookies, punch, fruit and dip, and crackers and cheese! It was great! Everyone enjoyed playing baby gift BINGO, and Eli recieved a lot of great gifts. I've been sorting it all today and feel really blessed! There are just a few more things I need to buy this week, and then we are set!

The in-laws, Bob and Donna Judson and Brandon's brother Blake, came up for the weekend to tile our bathroom and go to the shower! The bathroom looks so much better, and the guys worked so hard. I'm so glad we were able to do this before Eli comes!

Elijah loves being sideways!

My appointment today left me super excited for the short time I have left of this pregnancy! I'm just praising God that everything is going so well for us! I'm measuring exactly 32 weeks and Eli's heartbeat was 148. The only thing that could turn into an issue is that he is laying sideways (transverse) in me! I swear he's been laying sideways since I started feeling him move because his kicks are always in my side! I have a sonogram on January 24 that I am really excited for. We'll find out if he's moved positions and get estimates on how big he is. I'm hoping for some more sure answers on whether or not I'll need a C-section. '

We started our childbirth classes last night, and really enjoyed the teacher and the class! I'm looking forward to soaking in as much information as I can! I'm trying to drag myself out of the mindset that I'm having a C-section and focus on what to do if I actually have to go through labor (don't worry it WILL be medicated no matter what). I've washed all the baby clothes/bedding/carseat/carrier/play mat etc. It took me several days of doing loads and loads of laundry! The whole house smelled like baby soap :-) I've started packing my hospital bag and have the diaper bag as packed as much as I can at the moment. I don't want to be caught unprepared if Elijah decides to come early!

Christmas in Minneapolis!

We had a beautiful Christmas up in Minneapolis, Ks with my parents, brother, sister, and her husband! We had a lot of fun...besides my nasty cold! It was my last trip outside of Wichita until after this baby's born! I'm not taking any chances. We all came back to Wichita on the 28th for my doctor's appointment and joint Corman family shower with my prego cousin Katy!

Rebecca and Dad came with me to my appointment to hear Eli's heartbeat! He performed very well; his heart rate was 150, and I was measuring 30! They gave me an A+!

It was so fun to share a shower with my cousin Katy who is due mid April! Most of the Corman family was able to make it. It was at the Mitchell's house, and we enjoyed chili, soup, and adorable lamb cakes! Katy and I got loaded with presents for little Jadyn and Eli! They are two very spoiled and loved babies!
